The Martha Ministry is a group of women whose primary function is to ensure the

liturgical needs of the clergy are met. Under the direction of the Lead Sacristan,

the Martha Ministry works in collaboration with the Art & Environment Ministry

to support the clergy.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining the altar cloths
  • Care and laundering of the small linens used for the celebration of Mass
  • Care of the priests’ vestments
  • Care and maintenance of the sacristy and sanctuary
  • Care of the confessionals
  • Care of the candles and vessels used during Mass
  • Maintaining baptismal supplies
  • Care of the chapel, holy water fonts, and shrines

In addition to the daily/weekly Martha responsibilities, our ministry is involved in preparing for the liturgical needs of special celebrations such as Advent, Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Lent, Palm Sunday, Holy Week, Easter, Pentecost, First Communion, Confirmation, and Corpus Christi.

As they continued their journey he entered a village where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him.  (Luke 10: 38)
