Athletics - Coaching Opportunities


Prerequisites/Requirements for being a coach

  1. Coaches Application Form - complete and provide to the sport commissioner.

  2. Fingerprinting - all coaches must be fingerprinted every 3 years. The Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCII) requires that all requests for Ohio civilian background checks be submitted electronically through the use of WebCheck. Ink-rolled fingerprint cards obtained through the local police departments will no longer be accepted. WebCheck is available at St. Angela Church, 20970 Lorain Road, Fairview Park. Fingerprinting will be done on Monday, Tuesday and Friday afternoons in the Parish Center. Appointments are necessary. Call (440) 333-2133. The cost for the WebCheck is $20, payable at the time of fingerprinting. The fee will be reimbursed to you by St. Raphael Parish.

  3. CYO Coach Orientation - all head and assistant coaches are required to complete this course before they start coaching any practices or games. The parish will pay for the course. Please review the CYO schedule and inform your commissioner which session you plan to attned. He/she will register you and you will receive confirmation from CYO a few days prior to the session.

  4. VIRTUS - this is a diocesan program that all coaches and volunteers (anyone who is working with kids more than 4 hours a month) MUST complete before participating in a practice or game. St. Raphael offers the program on a frequent basis. Please contact Terri Telepak at the Parish Office or find a convenient session in the diocesan schedule Virtus.
